It is with great sadness that Team Majestic announces the passing of our beloved Ron West at the age of 93. Ron was more than just a community member; he was a national treasure and a true legend whose life was a testament to passion, dedication, and love for the arts.
Throughout his life, Ron’s enthusiasm for theatre, film, and the arts was unbounding. His contributions to his community, especially the Majestic Theatre in Pomona, are immeasurable. Ron was involved with the theatre for over fifty years, tirelessly working to keep the magic of silent films alive. His efforts have earned the Majestic worldwide recognition as the “only theatre in the world that continually screens Silent Films,” a remarkable achievement that highlights his unwavering commitment.
Thanks to Ron’s generosity, the Noosa Shire community acquired and maintained one of the few community theatres in the country that is owned and operated locally. His passion for preserving film history and supporting local arts has left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
The world is undoubtedly a better place for having had Ron West in it. We believe he is now swinging on a star, perhaps arranging a silent film screening or sharing stories about the evolution of cinema with fellow angels.
